ResurFX is a fractional laser that heats the deeper layers of your skin, stimulating the production of new collagen and elastic fibers. Boosting collagen production is the key to radiant, youthful skin and improves its texture and tone, as well as its appearance.

Lumenis ResurFX is a non-ablative, fractional, skin resurfacing laser treatment. This means the treatment is gentle, making it the best option for sensitive skin. Because ResurFX is gentle, it is recommended in a series of three to four treatments.

ResurFX treatments are in-office procedures that take 30 to 45 minutes to complete, depending on how many areas you would like treated. Before your treatment, your clinician will apply a topical anesthetic to make you more comfortable. When you’re ready, the ResurFX laser energy is delivered into the treatment area.

After the treatment is finished, your skin will feel hot and irritated for the first few hours. It may remind you of a bad sunburn. For two to four days, you will experience mild redness and dryness with some peeling.

Depending on the level of treatment your skin received, it may take up to one week to fully heal. During the recovery time, you may have some discomfort and swelling in the treated areas.

Your physician will give you instructions on how to care for your skin at home. These include:

• Cleaning the treated skin
• Applying ointment/moisturizer several times a day
• Avoiding sun exposure and heat

Taking good care of your skin during this time and following your surgeon’s instructions will help you to be comfortable and reduce any risk of infection that could affect the results of your treatment.

Because ResurFX is a mild, non-ablative treatment, you may see some results after your first treatment, but they are cumulative. That means that significant improvements will come after two to three sessions.

After you finish the recommended number of treatments, your results can last up to two years. You’ll have longer-lasting results if you take good care of your skin by avoiding sun exposure, using a good sunscreen, and sticking to a good skin regimen at home. An occasional touch-up treatment will keep your skin looking great for longer.
